In Cantillana, a village in the province of Seville, Manuela “la Cantaora” embroiders in silk flamenco springs. Her granddaughter, “la Loli”, holds the thread, learning from her grandmother how to make the fringed ribbons that finish the edges of the shawls.

She is the light of Andalusia, the light of Spain.

The aim of this work is to highlight the contribution of women to the cultural, social, and economic value of the Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts that form part of our rich heritage.
