Not in vain, the carving of the end of the mast of this beautiful viola reminds us of the figureheads of ancient ships that, wrapped in melancholic siren songs, sailed through mythical seas in solitude.
The outdated existence of the chestnut leaves appears in contrast to the timelessness of the music, expressed in the score.
It is the durability of the work of art as opposed to the extinct life of the artist.
